Summer Camp ~ Caring for Chickens

today we cleaned all the new eggs (8 total) and even brought out some eggs from the weekend to clean since the children so loved washing them. we filled up a galvanized metal tub with water and our fave dr. bronners (lavender, of course) the children loved how the dr. bronners seemed to turn the water purple when they washed the eggs. considering we've been studying fairies this week it added to the magic in the air!

Summer Camp ~ Simple Structures

this week we learned about building! everything from fairy houses to teepees! we had an older brother join us who is an expert at structures. he taught the children a bit about some native american outdoor structures and we set about building some examples which we chose from one we loved and will build to size. it's exciting to think what we build in the summer ( a teepee and a wigwam) will carry over into our year in september. i know the children will love getting in and out of such places all year and they will be as fun in fall as spring as in the winter!

NEW summer camp schedule!!!

Morning Glory Garden School Summer School Schedule Week 1 July 2-6 Fairy and Gnome week We will research and build fairy houses, make crafts during the week to compliment our houses and each child will have a chance to make a gnome or fairy from wooden pegs and wool felt. We will have a teensy tea party on friday complete with fairy and gnome sized snacks! Week 2 July 9-12 Fort Building week This week we will work on building outdoor structures and shelters. We will have Eli Budet on hand to show us some specific structure building implementations. The children will help to build a tee pee that will stand for the rest of the year. Week 3 July 1,17,18 Animal Care week This is a shorter week at camp. We will learn how to care for baby chicks and chickens, we will also take a field trip to see how goats are cared for and how there milk is used for cheese. The children will do a craft related to the care of animals. Camp runs 9 am to 12:30 and includes a snack. (please let us know if your child has any allergies) Fee for camp is : $120 for the week Please bring: Bag Lunch Bug spray Sunscreen Spare clothes Mud boots (for tromping thru forest, fields, and especially for animal care week!)
