NEW summer camp schedule!!!

Morning Glory Garden School Summer School Schedule Week 1 July 2-6 Fairy and Gnome week We will research and build fairy houses, make crafts during the week to compliment our houses and each child will have a chance to make a gnome or fairy from wooden pegs and wool felt. We will have a teensy tea party on friday complete with fairy and gnome sized snacks! Week 2 July 9-12 Fort Building week This week we will work on building outdoor structures and shelters. We will have Eli Budet on hand to show us some specific structure building implementations. The children will help to build a tee pee that will stand for the rest of the year. Week 3 July 1,17,18 Animal Care week This is a shorter week at camp. We will learn how to care for baby chicks and chickens, we will also take a field trip to see how goats are cared for and how there milk is used for cheese. The children will do a craft related to the care of animals. Camp runs 9 am to 12:30 and includes a snack. (please let us know if your child has any allergies) Fee for camp is : $120 for the week Please bring: Bag Lunch Bug spray Sunscreen Spare clothes Mud boots (for tromping thru forest, fields, and especially for animal care week!) our babies have arrived!

we have been waiting so patiently, the children have been checking of boxes each day until there were not any left. and then suddenly there were 5 healthy fluffy yellow chicks. we are all quite in love. 5 new morning glories! this week we will set about the task of naming them. our current flock includes: lazy daisy clover watermelon watermelons hot dog speckling buttercup last one and simone can you tell which ones the children named last year? i'd have to say that raising chicks WITH a mama hen is such a different experience. so much more gentle and natural. we loved having chicks last year and are grateful we did, and we wouldn't hesitate to order from a good hatchery again or pick them up at a local farm but this way is so gentle. and i am so thankful for it. our mama hen is a dear and a complete trooper. she didn't eat or drink the whole time she was broody and then on day 2 of baby chicks running around as i was trying to teach them how to eat (very unsuccessfully) she popped out of the nest box and gobbled down 3/4th of the food and water with all the babies following her lead. oh mama hen! oh motherhood!

open house lovely

many thanks to all who came out to our open house on saturday, during the busy mother's day weekend! the sun was shining for us, the grass was freshly mowed and the flowers were making a first appearance. we had so much fun making boats with miss toki, making our butter and bread and hearing a lovely story. i wish i had snapped more photos, but we were all so busy enjoying. a big thanks to all the class parents who helped out and contributed beauty to the day, to mr. alex for yard beautification and to all the families who joined us! it was truly a lovely lovely day... xo
